The Position

We are seeking a skilled Robotic Technician to support and advance our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting robotic systems currently used in MIG welding, spot welding, silicone dispensing, and metal forming, while also playing a key role in introducing robotics into additional areas of production. The technician will ensure optimal performance, safety, and quality standards while collaborating with production, engineering, and operations teams.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate manual processes for automation, analyze cost effectiveness, and develop timelines for implementation
- Configure, program, and optimize robotic equipment for MIG welding, spot welding, silicone dispensing, and metal forming applications.
- Adjust tooling, fixtures, and robotic paths to meet production requirements.
- Partner with engineering and operations to identify opportunities for robotics integration in new manufacturing processes.
- Plan and create robotic weld programs for newly introduced products utilizing software and teach pendant technology
- Develop and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure production scheduling flexibility is optimized through program management across all robotic weld cells
- Analyze and improve programs to increase efficiency, consistency, and quality
- Changeover equipment and dedicated tooling to meet production scheduling demands
- Champion product design changes for improved manufacturability
- Implement, supervise and ensure compliance with robot PM program
- Train production staff on safe and effective use of robotic systems
- Monitor processes to ensure dimensional accuracy, weld integrity, and product quality.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues to minimize downtime.
- Verify comprehensiveness of work order documents and complete initial and in process quality inspections.
- Record work order completions and in-process fallout through SAP MRP data collection terminals.
- Report and discuss concerns or requirements for assistance with leadership
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field.
- Hands-on welding experience is considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of robotic programming languages (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Panasonic).
- Experience with sheet metal manufacturing in a contract/made-to-order environment an asset
- Technical and practical expertise with MIG welding control systems, mechanics and metallurgy
- Solid comprehension of welding symbols and engineering drawings
- Ability to communicate effectively with the engineering and quality personnel
