Powder Coating Operator

The Position

Our brand new best-in-class automated powder coating system from Wagner Systems requires a driven, dedicated, and focused team player to maximize the performance and quality potential of this state of the art equipment.  Applying your technical mindset to learn and optimize the technology introduced by the Wagner Systems Super Cube and PXS powder distribution station, you will be a key contributor to the evolution of new products in a rapidly growing technology market.  In this hands on production role, you will work with fellow operators and interact with technical support team members to refine the equipment settings and configurations for best quality coatings on a variety of product types and powder applications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure effective and efficient changeover activities for powder booth and equipment including thorough booth cleaning and powder station set-up and programming
• Collaborate with the engineering department to establish powder application settings and equipment configuration for a variety of products and powder types
• Recommend and drive continuous improvement initiatives for powder application techniques and organization to produce best-in-class finish quality and maximize productivity
• Monitor and measure Zirconium Oxide pre-treatment line diagnostics to ensure consistent chemical balance and pressure through all seven stages to provide optimal substrate preparation for powder application
• Adhere to preventative maintenance schedules for application booth and peripheral equipment to assure peak performance and quality
• Report immediately any equipment performance or upstream material supply concerns for prompt remediation by technical and operational support personnel
• Operate equipment in accordance with standard operating and quality assurance procedures.
• Verify comprehensiveness of work order documents and complete initial and in process quality inspections.
• Record work order completions and in-process fallout through SAP MRP data collection terminals.
• Report and discuss concerns or requirements for assistance with leadership
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

• 2+ years Electro-static Powder Coating experience
• Experience changing over Wagner automated paint systems preferred
• Post-Secondary education in a related technical field preferred
• Previous leadership experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with the all levels of the organization
• Ability to work independently and draw from experience to troubleshoot with minimal supervision
• Comfortable in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities, timelines and requirements
